Abstract

Historical representation is the process by which past events are selected, interpreted, and presented in the present. This process is not neutral or objective, but rather depends on cultural, political and social factors. In many societies, historical representation has become a central aspect of the politics of memory, where governments and other power institutions use the past to shape collective identities and legitimize their actions. However, this leads to problems related to "control" of history, debates about what should be remembered and what should be forgotten, and the use of history to distort the past. The article is devoted to the analysis of the problem of the relationship between historical representation and the politics of memory. Understanding the issue of historical representation is critical to creating a more equitable society where the past is used to learn lessons and move forward.
