Abstract

The article presents the results of a sociological study conducted at Kazan Federal University at the end of 2022 on the basis of the Department of Public Relations and Applied Political Science of the Higher School of Journalism and Media Communications, in order to identify trends in the preferences of modern Russian student youth, which relate to the choice of sources of political news in the media, as well as the level of youth participation in public – political life. The issues of the attitude of young people (the age of respondents from 14 to 29 years) to the political sphere, to the institution of elections, the peculiarities of the use of sources of political information are considered. Special attention is paid to the analysis of trends in the development of student youth's interest in both the socio-political information itself and the channels and media formats for obtaining it. It is concluded that at present there is a high level of attention among young people to the socio-political agenda, at the same time there is a wariness about the readiness of young people to participate in political acts.
